Overlord (2018)

Overlord is a 2018 American war horror^[4]^[5] film directed by Julius Avery and written by Billy Ray and Mark L. Smith. The film stars Jovan Adepo, Wyatt Russell, Mathilde Ollivier, John Magaro, Gianny Taufer, Pilou Asbæk, and Bokeem Woodbine.^[6] The film was produced by J. J. Abrams, through his Bad Robot Productions banner, and Lindsey Weber.^[7]^[8] The plot follows several American soldiers who are dropped behind enemy lines the day before D-Day and discover secret Nazi experiments. Overlord was released in the United States on November 9, 2018, by Paramount Pictures. The film received generally positive reviews from critics and has grossed $19 million worldwide on a budget of $38 million.

On the eve of D-Day, American paratroopers drop behind enemy lines to penetrate the walls of a fortified church and destroy a radio transmitter. As the soldiers approach their target, they soon begin to realize that there’s more going on in the Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. Making their way to an underground lab, the outnumbered men stumble upon a sinister experiment that forces them into a vicious battle against an army of the undead.
