The plot follows a Roman Catholic priest and a nun in her novitiate as they uncover an unholy secret in 1952 Romania.Principal photography began in May 2017 in Bucharest, Romania, and during filming, the set was blessed by a Roman Catholic clergyman.^[4] The Nun was released in the United States on September 7, 2018, by Warner Bros. Pictures. It has grossed over $364 million worldwide, the highest of the Conjuring films, and received mixed reviews from critics, with praise for its performances and atmosphere but criticism for its weak narrative and over-reliance on jump-scares.

When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together, they uncover the order’s unholy secret. Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of a demonic nun.
