Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald<\/b><\/i> is a 2018 fantasy film<\/a> directed by David Yates<\/a> and written by J. K. Rowling<\/a>. A joint British and American production, it is the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them<\/a><\/i> (2016). It is the second instalment in the Fantastic Beasts<\/i> film series<\/a>, and the tenth overall in the Wizarding World<\/a> franchise, which began with the Harry Potter<\/i> film series<\/a>. The film features an ensemble cast<\/a> that includes Eddie Redmayne<\/a>, Katherine Waterston<\/a>, Dan Fogler<\/a>, Alison Sudol<\/a>, Ezra Miller<\/a>, Zo\u00eb Kravitz<\/a>, Callum Turner<\/a>, Claudia Kim<\/a>, William Nadylam, Kevin Guthrie<\/a>, Jude Law<\/a>, and Johnny Depp<\/a>. The plot follows Newt Scamander<\/a> and Albus Dumbledore<\/a> as they attempt to take down the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald<\/a>, while facing new threats in a more divided wizarding world. A second Fantastic Beasts<\/i> film was announced in October 2014, and in July 2016 Rowling confirmed she had completed the script. Depp was cast in November 2016, causing some controversy due to domestic violence allegations<\/a> recently made against him, and Law signed on in April 2017. Principal photography<\/a> on the film began at Warner Bros. Studios<\/a> in Leavesden<\/a> in July 2017. Filming also took place in London, Switzerland, and Paris, and ended in December 2017.<\/p>\n

In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans of raising pure-blood wizards to rule over all non-magical beings, Albus Dumbledore enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.<\/span><\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n
