The 2022\u00a0WrestleMania Backlash<\/b>\u00a0was the 17th\u00a0Backlash<\/a>\u00a0professional wrestling<\/a>\u00a0live event<\/a>\u00a0produced by\u00a0WWE<\/a>. It was held for wrestlers from the promotion’s\u00a0Raw<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0SmackDown<\/a>\u00a0brand divisions<\/a>. The event aired on\u00a0pay-per-view<\/a>\u00a0(PPV) worldwide and was available to stream through\u00a0Peacock<\/a>\u00a0in the United States and the\u00a0WWE Network<\/a>\u00a0internationally. It took place on May 8, 2022, at the\u00a0Dunkin’ Donuts Center<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0Providence, Rhode Island<\/a>. This was the second Backlash held under this name after the\u00a0previous year’s event<\/a>, thus officially renaming the event series as WrestleMania Backlash. It was the third Backlash held at Dunkin’ Donuts Center after the\u00a01999<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a02009<\/a>\u00a0editions. The concept of the event was based around the backlash from\u00a0WrestleMania 38<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Six matches were contested at the event. In the main event,\u00a0The Bloodline<\/a>\u00a0(Roman Reigns<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0The Usos<\/a>\u00a0(Jey Uso<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Jimmy Uso<\/a>)) defeated\u00a0Drew McIntyre<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0RK-Bro<\/a>\u00a0(Randy Orton<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Riddle<\/a>) in a\u00a0six-man tag team match<\/a>. In other prominent matches,\u00a0Ronda Rousey<\/a>\u00a0defeated\u00a0Charlotte Flair<\/a>\u00a0in an\u00a0“I Quit” match<\/a>\u00a0to win the\u00a0SmackDown Women’s Championship<\/a>,\u00a0Edge<\/a>\u00a0defeated\u00a0AJ Styles<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0technical submission<\/a>, and in the opening bout,\u00a0Cody Rhodes<\/a>\u00a0defeated\u00a0Seth “Freakin” Rollins<\/a>.
