The plot follows an uncle who looks after his teenage nephew after the boy’s father dies.<\/p>\n

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival<\/a> on January 23, 2016. It began a limited release<\/a> on November 18, 2016, before going wide<\/a> on December 16, 2016. The film received widespread acclaim from critics and has grossed $40 million worldwide on a $8.5 million budget.<\/p>\n

The film was chosen by American Film Institute<\/a> and National Board of Review<\/a> as one of the top ten films of 2016.Casey Affleck won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama<\/a>.
