It stars <a title=\"Aamir Khan\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Aamir_Khan\">Aamir Khan<\/a> as <a title=\"Mahavir Singh Phogat\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mahavir_Singh_Phogat\">Mahavir Singh Phogat<\/a>, who taught wrestling to his daughters <a title=\"Geeta Phogat\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Geeta_Phogat\">Geeta Phogat<\/a> and <a title=\"Babita Kumari\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Babita_Kumari\">Babita Kumari<\/a>.\u00a0The former is India&#8217;s first female wrestler to win at the <a title=\"2010 Commonwealth Games\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2010_Commonwealth_Games\">2010 Commonwealth Games<\/a>, where she won the gold medal (<a title=\"Wrestling at the 2010 Commonwealth Games \u2013 Women's freestyle 55 kg\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wrestling_at_the_2010_Commonwealth_Games_%E2%80%93_Women%27s_freestyle_55_kg\">55\u00a0kg<\/a>). Her sister Babita Kumari won the silver (<a title=\"Wrestling at the 2010 Commonwealth Games \u2013 Women's freestyle 51 kg\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wrestling_at_the_2010_Commonwealth_Games_%E2%80%93_Women%27s_freestyle_51_kg\">51\u00a0kg<\/a>). &#8220;<a title=\"Pehlwani\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pehlwani\">Dangal<\/a>&#8221; is the <a title=\"Hindi\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hindi\">Hindi<\/a> term for &#8220;a wrestling competition&#8221;.The music for <i>Dangal<\/i> was composed by <a title=\"Pritam\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pritam\">Pritam<\/a>, while the lyrics were written by <a title=\"Amitabh Bhattacharya\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Amitabh_Bhattacharya\">Amitabh Bhattacharya<\/a>. Kripa Shankar Bishnoi, a coach with the Indian women&#8217;s wrestling team, trained Aamir Khan and the entire crew for the wrestling sequences.<i>Dangal<\/i> released worldwide on 23 December 2016. He is married to Shobha Kaur. Phogat&#8217;s dream is to win a gold medal for India in wrestling. He is unable to do this. He promises that his son will do what he couldn&#8217;t do. However, although he loves them dearly, Phogat is disappointed when Shobha gives birth to four daughters. He does not believe girls can wrestle well. However, when two of his daughters, Geeta and Babita, come home after beating up two boys, Phogat realises how wrong he has been and begins to train his daughters in wrestling.
