David Brent: Life on the Road<\/b><\/i> is a 2016 British mockumentary<\/a> comedy<\/a> film written, directed, and produced by Ricky Gervais<\/a> and released by Entertainment One<\/a>.\u00a0The film stars Gervais as David Brent<\/a>, a character he played in the BBC<\/a> television comedy series The Office<\/a><\/i>,\u00a0who has a film crew that shadows Brent as he travels up and down the country living his dream of being a rock star.\u00a0Gervais said, “This film delves much more into his private life than The Office<\/i> ever did and we really get to peel back the layers of this extraordinary, ordinary man.” He has emphasised that it is “not an Office<\/i> film”.<\/p>\n

The film catches up with Brent 12 years after the airing of the BBC mockumentary “The Office” to find he is now a traveling salesman. However, he hasn’t given up on his dream of rock stardom and is about to embark on a self-financed UK tour with his band, Foregone Conclusion. Assembling a group of session musicians who are just in it for the money, Brent cashes in his pensions and takes unpaid leave in a bid to turn his dream into reality.<\/div><\/div>\n
