The Human Centipede (First Sequence)<\/b><\/i>\u00a0is a 2009 Dutch\u00a0horror film<\/a>\u00a0written, directed and co-produced by\u00a0Tom Six<\/a>. The film tells the story of a deranged\u00a0German<\/a>\u00a0surgeon who kidnaps three tourists and joins them surgically, mouth to\u00a0anus<\/a>, forming a “human\u00a0centipede<\/a>“. It stars\u00a0Dieter Laser<\/a>\u00a0as the creator of the centipede, Josef Heiter, with\u00a0Ashley C. Williams<\/a>,\u00a0Ashlynn Yennie<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Akihiro Kitamura<\/a>\u00a0as his victims. According to Six, the concept arose from a joke he made with friends about punishing a\u00a0child molester<\/a>\u00a0by stitching his mouth to the anus of a “fat truck driver”. Inspiration also came from\u00a0Nazi medical experiments<\/a>\u00a0carried out during\u00a0World War II<\/a>, such as the crimes of\u00a0Josef Mengele<\/a>\u00a0at the\u00a0Auschwitz concentration camp<\/a>.<\/p>\n

<\/span>When approaching investors prior to filming, Six did not mention the mouth-to-anus aspect of the plot, fearing it would put off potential backers. Financiers did not discover the full nature of the film until completion. The film received generally mixed reviews from film critics, but it won several accolades at international film festivals. The film received a limited theatrical release<\/a>\u00a0in the United States on 30 April 2010. Two\u00a0sequels<\/a>, titled\u00a0Full Sequence<\/a><\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0Final Sequence<\/a><\/i>, also written and directed by Six, were released in 2011 and 2015, respectively. The entire trilogy was compiled into a single film in 2016, titled\u00a0Complete Sequence<\/i>, which Six described as a “movie centipede” due to each\u00a0Sequence<\/i>\u00a0leading into its successor while simultaneously working as a separate standalone film.<\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n
