Kill Bill: Volume 1<\/b><\/i>\u00a0is a 2003 American\u00a0martial arts<\/a>\u00a0Splatter film written and directed by\u00a0Quentin Tarantino<\/a>. It stars\u00a0Uma Thurman<\/a>\u00a0as\u00a0the Bride<\/a>, who swears revenge on a team of assassins (Lucy Liu<\/a>,\u00a0Michael Madsen<\/a>,\u00a0Daryl Hannah<\/a>, and\u00a0Vivica A. Fox<\/a>) and their leader, Bill (David Carradine<\/a>), after they try to kill her and her unborn child. Her journey takes her to Tokyo, where she battles the\u00a0yakuza<\/a>. Tarantino conceived\u00a0Kill Bill<\/i>\u00a0as an\u00a0homage<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0grindhouse<\/a>\u00a0cinema, including\u00a0martial arts<\/a>\u00a0films,\u00a0samurai cinema<\/a>,\u00a0blaxploitation<\/a>\u00a0films, and\u00a0spaghetti Westerns<\/a>. It features an\u00a0anime<\/a>\u00a0sequence by\u00a0Production I.G<\/a>. <\/span>A woman in a wedding dress,\u00a0the Bride<\/a>, lies wounded in a chapel in\u00a0El Paso, Texas<\/a>, having been attacked by the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad. She tells their leader, Bill, that she is pregnant with his baby just before he shoots her in the head. Four years later, having survived the attack, the Bride goes to the home of Vernita Green, planning to kill her. Both women were members of the assassination squad, which has since disbanded; Vernita now leads a normal suburban family life. They engage in a\u00a0knife fight<\/a>, but are interrupted by the arrival of Vernita’s young daughter, Nikki. The Bride agrees to meet Vernita at night to settle the matter, but when Vernita tries to surprise the Bride with a pistol hidden in a box of cereal, the Bride throws a knife into Vernita’s chest, killing her. Nikki witnesses the killing, and the Bride acknowledges that Nikki may one day seek her own vengeance for her mother’s death.<\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n
