Mad Max<\/b><\/i>\u00a0is an Australian\u00a0dystopian<\/a>\u00a0action<\/a>\u00a0media franchise<\/a>\u00a0created by\u00a0George Miller<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Byron Kennedy<\/a>. It began in 1979 with\u00a0Mad Max<\/a><\/i>, and was followed by three films:\u00a0Mad Max 2<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(1981, released in the United States as\u00a0The Road Warrior<\/i>),\u00a0Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(1985) and\u00a0Mad Max: Fury Road<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2015).\u00a0Mel Gibson<\/a>\u00a0starred in the first three films and\u00a0Tom Hardy<\/a>\u00a0took over as Max in the fourth film.<\/p>\n

The series follows the adventures of\u00a0Max Rockatansky<\/a>, a police officer in a future Australia which is experiencing\u00a0societal collapse<\/a>\u00a0due to war and critical resource shortages. When his wife and child are murdered by a vicious biker gang, Max kills them in revenge and becomes a drifting loner in\u00a0the Wasteland<\/a>. As Australia devolves further into barbarity, this skilled warrior of the road finds himself helping pockets of civilisation, initially for his own self-interest, but his motives always drift into more idealistic ones.<\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n
