Aashiqui 2<\/b><\/i> (transl.<\/abbr>\u2009Romance 2) is a 2013 Indian romantic<\/a> musical<\/a> drama film<\/a> directed by Mohit Suri<\/a>. Starring Aditya Roy Kapur<\/a> and Shraddha Kapoor<\/a> in the lead roles, it was produced by Mukesh Bhatt<\/a> and Bhushan Kumar<\/a> under the Vishesh Films<\/a> and T-Series<\/a> banners. Set in the early 2010s, Aashiqui 2<\/i> is a love story centering on the turbulent relationship between musicians Rahul and Arohi, a relationship which is affected by Rahul’s issues with alcohol abuse and temperament. The film loosely follows the plot of A Star is Born<\/a><\/i> (1954). The film is a spiritual successor<\/a> to the 1990 musical film Aashiqui<\/a><\/i>, and initially caused concern in the Indian media that it could not live up to the high standards and success of the original. Production of Aashiqui 2<\/i> began in 2011, with the principal photography<\/a> taking place in Cape Town<\/a>, Goa<\/a> and Mumbai<\/a> on a budget of \u20b9180 million<\/span> (US$2.6\u00a0million).<\/p>\n
