Swiss Army Man<\/b><\/i> is a 2016 American comedy film<\/a> written and directed by Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, starring Paul Dano<\/a>, Daniel Radcliffe<\/a>, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead<\/a>. The film had its world premiere at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival<\/a> on January 22, and began a theatrical limited release<\/a> on June 24, 2016, before opening wide on July 1. The film has been positively received by critics.<\/p>\n

Dano plays Hank, a man stranded on a desert island who is attempting suicide when he sees a corpse wash ashore portrayed by Radcliffe. He develops a type of friendship with the dead body and discovers that he can manipulate the cadaver like a multi-purpose tool<\/a> and ends up reanimating him from the dead. The conversations between the two men reveal Hank’s insecurities and through deliberately ambiguous storytelling, it is not clear if Hank has simply fantasized these interactions but resolves to take charge of his life when he gets back to society.<\/p>\n

Being stranded on a deserted island leaves young Hank (Paul Dano) bored, lonely and without hope. As a rope hangs around his neck, Hank prepares to end it all, until he suddenly spots a man (Daniel Radcliffe) laying by the shore. Unfortunately, he is dead and quite flatulent. Using the gassy body to his advantage, Hank miraculously makes it back to the mainland. However, he now finds himself lost in the wilderness, and dragging the talking corpse named Manny along for the adventure.<\/div><\/div>\n
