Raajneeti<\/b><\/i> (transl.<\/abbr>\u2009Politics), is a 2010 Indian political thriller film<\/a> co-written, directed and produced by Prakash Jha<\/a>, with a screenplay by Anjum Rajabali and Prakash Jha, and starring Ajay Devgn<\/a>, Ranbir Kapoor<\/a>, Nana Patekar<\/a>, Katrina Kaif<\/a>, Arjun Rampal<\/a>, Manoj Bajpayee<\/a> and Naseeruddin Shah<\/a> in the lead roles.[4]<\/a><\/sup> It was originally produced by Prakash Jha Productions and distributed by UTV Motion Pictures<\/a> and Walkwater Media. It was shot in Bhopal<\/a>. The title translates literally as “Politics” and contextually as “Affairs of State.”[5]<\/a><\/sup> The story draws parallels to the epic Mahabharata<\/a><\/i> where shades of Karna<\/a> (Ajay Devgan), Krishna<\/a> (Nana Patekar), Arjuna<\/a> (Ranbir Kapoor), Bhima<\/a> (Arjun Rampal), Duryodhana<\/a> (Manoj Bajpai), and Draupadi<\/a> (Katrina Kaif) can be seen in the characters portrayed.\u00a0Raajneeti<\/i> was released in theatres worldwide on 4 June 2010, after some controversies regarding similarities between real-life people and the characters in the film, as well as issues about the national anthem. The film was declared a ‘Blockbuster’ by Box Office India<\/a>. A sequel of Rajneeti<\/i> has been confirmed by Prakash Jha<\/a>.<\/p>\n
