Drishyam<\/b><\/i> (transl.<\/abbr>\u2009Visual) is a 2013 Indian Malayalam<\/a>-language drama<\/a>–thriller<\/a> film written and directed by Jeethu Joseph<\/a>. It stars Mohanlal<\/a> and Meena<\/a> in the lead roles and features Ansiba Hassan<\/a>, Esther Anil<\/a>, Kalabhavan Shajon<\/a>, Asha Sarath<\/a>, Siddique<\/a>, Roshan Basheer<\/a> and Neeraj Madhav<\/a> in supporting roles. The film was produced by Antony Perumbavoor<\/a> for Aashirvad Cinemas<\/a>. The story follows the struggle of Georgekutty and his family, who come under suspicion when Varun Prabhakar, the son of the Inspector-general of police<\/a>, goes missing after an attempt to physically harass Georgekutty’s daughter. The film’s principal photography<\/a> commenced in the first week of October 2013 at Thodupuzha<\/a> in Kerala<\/a> and was completed in 44 days. The cinematography was done by Sujith Vaassudev<\/a> and was edited by Ayoob Khan. The soundtrack of the film was composed by Anil Johnson<\/a> and Vinu Thomas. Released on 19 December 2013 in Kerala, Drishyam<\/i> received positive reviews with critics praising the screenplay, the performances and direction. It was the first Malayalam film to collect \u20b9500 million from the box office. The film grossed over \u20b9750 million worldwide and ran for more than 150 days in theatres. It remained the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time until it was surpassed by Pulimurugan<\/a><\/i> in 2016.The film won numerous accolades including the Kerala State Film Award for Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value<\/a> and the Filmfare Award for Best Film\u00a0\u2013 Malayalam<\/a> and screened at the 45th International Film Festival of India<\/a> and the 8th Asian Film Festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n
