Student of the Year<\/b><\/i> is a 2012 Indian Hindi-language<\/a> coming-of-age<\/a> romantic comedy<\/a>–drama film<\/a> directed by Karan Johar<\/a> and produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar under the banner of Dharma Productions<\/a> and Gauri Khan under Red Chillies Entertainment<\/a>.[5]<\/a><\/sup> The film stars debutantes Sidharth Malhotra<\/a>, Alia Bhatt<\/a> and Varun Dhawan<\/a> in the lead roles, and it also features Rishi Kapoor<\/a>, Sana Saeed<\/a>, Ronit Roy<\/a>, Sahil Anand<\/a>, Ram Kapoor<\/a> and Farida Jalal<\/a> in supporting roles<\/a>. The film features Boman Irani<\/a>, Kajol<\/a>, Farah Khan<\/a> and Vaibhavi Merchant<\/a> in guest appearances<\/a>. This was Karan Johar’s first and only (feature film) directorial venture without Shah Rukh Khan. The next film without Shahrukh was Ae Dil Hai Mushkil<\/a>, though he had a cameo appearance there. Student of the Year was released on 19 October 2012 in over 1400 locations across India. It was one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of 2012.[6] <\/a><\/sup>A temporally unrelated sequel, Student of the Year 2<\/a><\/i>, was released on 10 May 2019, as a quasi-sequel, starring Tiger Shroff<\/a> alongside debutantes Tara Sutaria<\/a> and Ananya Pandey.<\/p>\n
