All three of Ludlum’s novels were\u00a0adapted for the screen<\/a>, featuring Matt Damon as the title character in each.\u00a0Doug Liman<\/a>\u00a0directed\u00a0The Bourne Identity<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2002) and\u00a0Paul Greengrass<\/a>\u00a0directed\u00a0The Bourne Supremacy<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2004),\u00a0The Bourne Ultimatum<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2007) and\u00a0Jason Bourne<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2016).\u00a0Tony Gilroy<\/a>\u00a0co-wrote each film except for\u00a0Jason Bourne<\/i>\u00a0and directed\u00a0The Bourne Legacy<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2012).<\/p>\n

<\/span>Damon chose not to return for the fourth film,\u00a0The Bourne Legacy<\/i>, which introduces a new main character, Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner<\/a>), a Department of Defense operative who runs for his life because of Bourne’s actions in\u00a0Ultimatum<\/i>. The character of Jason Bourne does not appear in\u00a0Legacy<\/i>, but mention of his name and pictures of Damon as Bourne are shown throughout the film.[2]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0Damon returned for the fifth installment,\u00a0Jason Bourne<\/i>.<\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n
