Us<\/b><\/i> is a 2019 American fantasy<\/a> horror film<\/a> written and directed by Jordan Peele<\/a>. The film stars Lupita Nyong’o<\/a>, Winston Duke<\/a>, Shahadi Wright Joseph, Evan Alex, Elisabeth Moss<\/a>, and Tim Heidecker<\/a>, and follows an African-American family who are confronted by a group of doppelg\u00e4ngers<\/a>. The project was first announced in February 2018, and much of the cast joined that summer. Peele produced the film alongside Jason Blum<\/a> and Sean McKittrick<\/a> (with the trio previously having collaborated on Get Out<\/a><\/i> and BlacKkKlansman<\/a><\/i>), as well as Ian Cooper. Filming took place from July to October 2018 in California<\/a>. The film has the distinction of being the first of the horror genre in mainstream cinematic history to revolve around a core cast of African-American characters.\u00a0Us<\/i> had its world premiere at South by Southwest<\/a> on March 8, 2019 and was theatrically released in the United States on March 22, 2019, by Universal Pictures<\/a>.
