Harry Potter<\/b><\/i> is a British-American namesake<\/a> film series<\/a> based on the eponymous novels<\/a> by author J. K. Rowling<\/a>. The series is distributed by Warner Bros.<\/a> and consists of eight fantasy films<\/a>, beginning with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone<\/a><\/i> (2001) and culminating with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows \u2013 Part 2<\/a><\/i> (2011).[2]<\/a><\/sup>[3]<\/a><\/sup> A spin-off<\/a> prequel<\/a> series that will consist of five films started with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them<\/a><\/i> (2016), marking the beginning of the Wizarding World<\/a> shared media franchise.[4]\u00a0<\/a><\/sup>The series was mainly produced by David Heyman<\/a>, and stars Daniel Radcliffe<\/a>, Rupert Grint<\/a>, and Emma Watson<\/a> as the three leading characters: Harry Potter<\/a>, Ron Weasley<\/a>, and Hermione Granger<\/a>. Four directors worked on the series: Chris Columbus<\/a>, Alfonso Cuar\u00f3n<\/a>, Mike Newell<\/a>, and David Yates<\/a>.[5]<\/a><\/sup> Michael Goldenberg<\/a> wrote the screenplay for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix<\/a><\/i> (2007), while the remaining films had their screenplays written by Steve Kloves<\/a>. Harry Potter<\/a> is an orphaned boy brought up by his unkind Muggle (non-magical) aunt and uncle. At the age of eleven, half-giant Rubeus Hagrid<\/a> informs him that he is actually a wizard<\/a> and that his parents were murdered by an evil wizard named Lord Voldemort<\/a>. Voldemort also attempted to kill one-year-old Harry on the same night, but his killing curse mysteriously rebounded and reduced him to a weak and helpless form. Harry became extremely famous in the Wizarding World<\/a> as a result. Harry begins his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry<\/a> and learns about magic. During the year, Harry and his friends Ron Weasley<\/a> and Hermione Granger<\/a> become entangled in the mystery of the Philosopher’s Stone which is being kept within the school.<\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n
