The Wandering Earth<\/b><\/i> (Chinese<\/a>: \u6d41\u6d6a\u5730\u7403<\/span>) is a 2019 Chinese science fiction film<\/a> directed by Frant Gwo<\/a>, based on the novella of the same name by Locus Award<\/a> and Hugo Award<\/a>-winning author Liu Cixin<\/a>. It stars Qu Chuxiao<\/a>, Li Guangjie, Ng Man-tat<\/a>, Zhao Jinmai<\/a>, Wu Jing<\/a> and Qu Jingjing. The film was theatrically released on 5 February 2019 (Chinese New Year’s Day<\/a>),[3]<\/a><\/sup> by China Film Group Corporation<\/a>, followed by North America and Australia on February 8, 2019. A box office success, it has grossed over $683 million worldwide, including $677 million in China.[2]<\/a><\/sup> It is China’s second highest-grossing film<\/a> of all time,[4]<\/a><\/sup> 2019’s highest-grossing film<\/a> worldwide,[5]<\/a><\/sup> the second highest-grossing non-English film<\/a> of all time, and one of the top 20 highest-grossing science fiction films<\/a> of all time.
