Elimination Chamber (2019)<\/b> (also known as No Escape (2019)<\/b> in Germany<\/a>[1]<\/a><\/sup>[nb 1]<\/a><\/sup>) was a professional wrestling<\/a> pay-per-view<\/a> event<\/a> and WWE Network<\/a> event<\/a> produced by WWE<\/a> for their Raw<\/a>, SmackDown<\/a>, and 205 Live<\/a> brands<\/a>. It took place on February 17, 2019, at the Toyota Center<\/a> in Houston<\/a>, Texas<\/a>.[3]<\/a><\/sup> It was the ninth event promoted under the Elimination Chamber<\/a> chronology. Seven matches were contested at the event, including one on the pre-show. In the main event, Daniel Bryan<\/a> defeated AJ Styles<\/a>, Samoa Joe<\/a>, Kofi Kingston<\/a>, Randy Orton<\/a>, and Jeff Hardy<\/a> in an Elimination Chamber match to retain the WWE Championship<\/a>. On the undercard, The Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection (Bayley<\/a> and Sasha Banks<\/a>) won a women’s tag team Elimination Chamber match to become the inaugural holders of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship<\/a>, Finn B\u00e1lor<\/a> defeated Bobby Lashley<\/a> and Lio Rush<\/a> in a 2-on-1 handicap match to win the Intercontinental Championship<\/a>, and Ronda Rousey<\/a> defeated Ruby Riott<\/a> to retain the Raw Women’s Championship<\/a>.<\/p>\n

T<\/span>he card will include matches that resulted from scripted storylines, where wrestlers portrayed heroes<\/a>, villains<\/a>, or less distinguishable characters<\/a> in scripted events that built tension and culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches. Results were predetermined by WWE<\/a>‘s writers on the Raw<\/a>, SmackDown<\/a>, and 205 Live<\/a> brands<\/a>,[4]<\/a><\/sup>[5]<\/a><\/sup>with storylines produced on their weekly television shows, Monday Night Raw<\/a><\/i>, SmackDown Live<\/a><\/i>,[6]<\/a><\/sup> and the cruiserweight<\/a>-exclusive 205 Live<\/a><\/i>.[7]\u00a0<\/a><\/sup>On the December 24, 2018, episode of Raw<\/i>, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon<\/a> announced that a new WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship<\/a> would be introduced in 2019.[8]<\/a><\/sup> On the January 14, 2019, episode of Raw<\/i>, on her segment “A Moment of Bliss”, Alexa Bliss<\/a> unveiled the championship belts and revealed that the inaugural champions would be determined at Elimination Chamber in a tag team<\/a> Elimination Chamber<\/a> match, featuring three teams from Raw and SmackDown each, making the championship non-exclusive to either brand.[9]<\/a><\/sup> Qualification matches to determine the three teams from Raw took place on the January 28 and February 4 episodes of Raw<\/i>: the teams of Nia Jax<\/a> and Tamina<\/a>, The Riott Squad (represented by Liv Morgan<\/a> and Sarah Logan<\/a>), and The Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection (Bayley<\/a> and Sasha Banks<\/a>) each qualified by defeating the teams of Bliss and Mickie James<\/a>, Natalya<\/a> and Dana Brooke<\/a>, and Alicia Fox<\/a> and Nikki Cross<\/a>, respectively.[10]<\/a><\/sup>[11]<\/a><\/sup> Due to its smaller roster,[12]<\/a><\/sup> no qualification matches were held for SmackDown and instead, the teams of Sonya Deville<\/a> and Mandy Rose<\/a>, The IIconics<\/a> (Billie Kay<\/a> and Peyton Royce<\/a>), and Naomi<\/a> and Carmella<\/a> all announced their participation.[13]<\/a><\/sup>[14]<\/a><\/sup>[15]<\/a><\/sup> On the February 11 and February 12 episodes of Raw<\/i> and SmackDown<\/i>, triple threat tag team matches occurred between each brand’s three respective tag teams to determine which two teams would start the Elimination Chamber match. Bayley and Rose were pinned in their respective matches, making Banks and Bayley, and Deville and Rose the first entrants in the chamber.<\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n
