Suspiria<\/b><\/i> (Latin:\u00a0<\/small>[s\u028as\u02c8p\u026aria]<\/a><\/span>, lit.<\/abbr> “sighs”) is a 2018 supernatural horror film<\/a> directed by Luca Guadagnino<\/a> with a screenplay by David Kajganich<\/a>, inspired by the 1977 Italian film of the same name<\/a> directed by Dario Argento<\/a>. It stars Dakota Johnson<\/a> as an American woman who enrolls at a prestigious dance academy in 1977 Berlin<\/a> that is run by a coven<\/a> of witches<\/a>. Tilda Swinton<\/a> co-stars in three roles, including as the company’s lead choreographer as well as a male psychotherapist<\/a> who becomes embroiled with the academy. Mia Goth<\/a> and Chlo\u00eb Grace Moretz<\/a> appear in supporting roles as students of the academy, while Angela Winkler<\/a>, Ren\u00e9e Soutendijk<\/a>, Ingrid Caven<\/a>, and Sylvie Testud<\/a> (among others) portray the academy’s matrons. Jessica Harper<\/a>, the star of the original film, has a cameo<\/a> role.<\/p>\n

A darkness swirls at the center of a world-renowned dance company, one that will engulf the artistic director, an ambitious young dancer, and a grieving psychotherapist. Some will succumb to the nightmare. Others will finally wake up.<\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n
