The Old Man & the Gun<\/b><\/i> is a 2018 American biographical<\/a> film written and directed by David Lowery<\/a> and based on the true-life story of Forrest Tucker<\/a>, a career criminal<\/a> and prison escape artist<\/a>. The script is based on David Grann<\/a>‘s 2003 article in The New Yorker<\/a><\/i> titled “The Old Man and the Gun”, which was later collected in Grann’s 2010 book The Devil and Sherlock Holmes<\/a><\/i>. It stars Robert Redford<\/a>, Casey Affleck<\/a>, Danny Glover<\/a>, Tika Sumpter<\/a>, Tom Waits<\/a> and Sissy Spacek<\/a>. It is likely to be Redford’s final role, as he announced his intent to retire from acting in August 2018.<\/p>\n

At the age of 70, Forrest Tucker makes an audacious escape from San Quentin, conducting an unprecedented string of heists that confound authorities and enchant the public. Wrapped up in the pursuit are detective John Hunt, who becomes captivated with Forrest’s commitment to his craft, and a woman who loves him in spite of his chosen profession.<\/span><\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n
