Talk to Her<\/b><\/i> (Spanish<\/a>: Hable con ella<\/i>) is a 2002 Spanish comedy-drama written and directed by Pedro Almod\u00f3var<\/a>, and starring Javier C\u00e1mara<\/a>, Dar\u00edo Grandinetti<\/a>, Leonor Watling<\/a>, Geraldine Chaplin<\/a>, and Rosario Flores<\/a>. The film follows two men who form an unlikely friendship as they care for two women who are both in comas<\/a>. The film’s themes include bodily autonomy<\/a> and violation<\/a>, the boundary between life and death, versions of love predicated on possession, and gender, gaze, voyeurism<\/a>, passivity, agency, complicity, obsession, and psychoanalysis<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Male nurse Benigno (Javier C\u00e1mara) becomes infatuated with a complete stranger when he watches dancer Alicia (Leonor Watling) practicing from the anonymity of his apartment. After being injured in a car accident, Alicia is brought to a nearby hospital, where Benigno serendipitously happens to be her caregiver. When wounded bullfighter Lydia (Rosario Flores) is brought into the same ward, her companion, writer Marco (Dar\u00edo Grandinetti), begins to bond with Benigno.<\/span><\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n
