The Silence of the Lambs<\/b><\/i> is a 1991 American psychological horror<\/a>–thriller film<\/a>[3]<\/a><\/sup> directed by Jonathan Demme<\/a> from a screenplay written by Ted Tally<\/a>, adapted from Thomas Harris<\/a>‘s 1988 novel of the same name<\/a>. The film stars Jodie Foster<\/a>, Anthony Hopkins<\/a>, Scott Glenn<\/a>, Ted Levine<\/a>, and Anthony Heald<\/a>.[4]<\/a><\/sup> In the film, Clarice Starling<\/a>, a young FBI trainee<\/a>, seeks the advice of the imprisoned Dr. Hannibal Lecter<\/a>, a brilliant psychiatrist<\/a> and cannibalistic<\/a> serial killer<\/a> to apprehend another serial killer, known only as “Buffalo Bill<\/a>“, who skins<\/a> his female victims’ corpses. The novel was Harris’s first and second respectively to feature the characters of Starling and Lecter, and was the second adaptation of a Harris novel to feature Lecter, preceded by the Michael Mann<\/a>-directed Manhunter<\/i><\/a> (1986).<\/p>\n

Jodie Foster stars as Clarice Starling, a top student at the FBI’s training academy. Jack Crawford (Scott Glenn) wants Clarice to interview Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins), a brilliant psychiatrist who is also a violent psychopath, serving life behind bars for various acts of murder and cannibalism. Crawford believes that Lecter may have insight into a case and that Starling, as an attractive young woman, may be just the bait to draw him out.<\/span><\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n
